O_O oh my gosh that is so cool. lol I was watching it today too and telling my sister about how she chose the name Rebecca and stuff.. this is pretty cool :) it’s not everyone who can say they’re related to a Disney princess.

It’s so mind boggling. That’s cool that you were watching it and talking about it. I was just telling my sister too about how  when I was a kid I was SO interested in Pocahontas and read all that I could about her so now it’s just so fortuitous. I feel like now I can hold my head high whenever that “I Am A Princess” Disney campaign pops up now :P

Interrupting this hiatus for a critical update. I’ve been doing some lineage research of my mother’s side tonight and as it turns out I am the 13th great granddaughter of Pocahontas!!!!!!!!

Actual direct lineage straight through from Pocahontas’s son Thomas

who had a daughter

who had a son

who had a son

who had a son

who had a son

who had a daughter

who had a daughter

who had a son

who had a son

who had a daughter

who had a daughter

who had my mom

who had me and my sister!

I always knew I had Native American heritage, but I was never ever expecting this. And ironically just watched Pocahontas II tonight and was all “why does everybody hate John Rolfe and the sequel!???” I guess it’s the family instinct lol. I literally did not know any of this when watching it either.

I also learned that through another line on my mom’s side that I am direct descendant of Reverend Richard Denton who, as of current historical documents, is known for bringing the first Presbyterian church to America.

I don’t know how to handle all of this information, but wow.

+personal;  +idek how to tag this;  +i don't wanna tag pocahontas and have tumblr activists accuse this very white girl of appropriating her own 12th great grandma;

My first morning home I was having breakfast in bed when Bogie went off to work. Before he left, he stopped in to see his son—I had the intercom on and suddenly heard in a soft, new voice, ‘Hello, son. You’re a little fella, aren’t you? I’m Father. Welcome home.’ It was so unexpected, so moving. He’d never been faced with a tiny creature of his own before. He wasn’t sure what to say to him or how to say it. He was just letting him know that he was there—that he’d do his best and was glad to have him. Lucky Steve. Lucky me. —Lauren Bacall: By Myself and Then Some.
